In het verlengde van kwisvraag 1....
Waarom werd WIT gekozen als kleur voor de eerste Shelby GT-350 in '65. Het is pas in '66 dat andere kleuren zoals rood en zwart werden toegevoegd...
Cadeau ? Nog meer sleutelhangers misschien ?

volgens mij vanwege tijdsdruk, Ford wilde graag een snelle auto hebben voor op het circuit, regel was dat er dan ook 100 straatversies werden gebouwd. Dit moest in zeer korte tijd gebeuren, Ford nam 100 fastbacks en vervoerde die naar Shelby. Die 100 waren allemaal 1 kleur: Wimbledon White.

When it was determined that all the 1965 GT 350's were to be painted white in color, Brock had an idea. One of his first cars was a 1946 Ford convertible , which he painted white with two wide blue stripes. It was painted this way as a tribute to the Briggs Cunningham road racecars of the 1950's, which also raced in Europe. At the time, white with blue stripes was considered to be the American road racing colors in international racing. This was a way for the cars to be identified as to country of origin, red = Italian, green = British, silver = Germany. This is where the white base body color with twin blue Le Mans stripes that are forever linked to the 1965 GT350 came from.

Dit verklaart de blauwe strepen, niet het wit, denk ik, je antwoord begint ook met: "When it was determined.... " Maar waarom was besloten dat alle auto's wit werden.... Zelf kan ik het niet meer vinden dan bovenstaande verklaring, maar ik denk ook niet dat die van mij helemaal klopt...

Maar het blijft inderdaad vaag waarom er op voorhand al besloten was om voor wit te gaan.

In 1965, about a year after the release of the Mustang, Ford decided that they were going to toughen up the Mustang line. So, they asked Carroll Shelby to make their pony car compete with GM's Chevy Corvette. In order to do this, Ford produced a normal white fastback without rear seats or hoods and sent them to Shelby so they could do whatever it was they wanted to do
de makkelijkste en goedkoopste optie was het standaard wit... caroll shelby had de vrijheid ermee te doen wat ie wou maar vanwege tijdsdruk zijn er alleen strepen aangebracht op de witte fastbacks,
volgens mij was dat de reden....

Wederom volgens het boek 'Snelle auto's' is het correcte antwoord :
Wit is de kleur van het US racing team en aangezien de Shelby's initieel voorzien waren voor racing (althans de GT-350R) was dit de kleur 'to go for'.
Marc zorgt wel voor de sleutelhangertjes dispatching (veronderstel ik)...
Ik zie de opmerking al komen vandaar : Dit is een '66 en geen '65.

nog steeds geen duidelijke reden; omdat de anderen het ook zijn...???
wit en blauw zijn wel de kenmerkende race kleuren oa van de cobra's, maar waarom dan niet blauw met witte strepen?
wit was meer een veel gezien drag-race kleur.

Zo'n beetje alle racers worden geleverd in wit. Dat kan gebruikt worden als basis voor andere kleuren en sticker combinaties.
